Of course the rhetoric about Gaelicness as being the summation of being Irish has always been a dangerous falsehood which has done a lot of damage in it's time, and runs completely contrary to the notion of Irish unity.

Sounds to me as if they are making the same mistake today in Ukraine, pretending that those Ukrainians who speak Russian are somehow less Ukrainian.
