but if you tell the average crowd of punters there will be a folk night at the pub, they will mostly stay away, sadly.

   Dick Hogan's songs are composed, music-hall style but highly entertaining- a good example of how repertoire tops 'style in the world outside folkalthough Hogan has both, and unselfconsciously in the Irish tradition
