Please take 20 minutes to watch this film. Although it was made for schools it is well worth your time. I live in Lancashire in a cottage built about 1820. It was originally one up one down. The row housed the carters for the estate and the car park was once the stables. Upstairs there was once a loom for home working. The story of this short film is very likely relevant to those who lived here. I am in the process of researching Yorkshire song tunes for Steve Gardham's new book. One of them is 'Poverty Knock' I will admit to being rather ignorant about the Chartist movement in Victorian times.
