Regarding your quote, the Economist seems to mistake good manners for "indecision," and she hasn't given up on many things, has simply chosen to highlight a set of the most popular topics in the time available. Probably just as well if they underestimate her. That comes within a whisker of "damning with faint praise." (No, I don't need yet another account to nag me to subscribe or try to send notifications, so I didn't join to read it all.)
