Guernsey jumpers were brought over to the Aran islands in the 1890s, and were adapted by the local women since to use local, thicker wool and their own variations. The Norwegian genser and Scottish Gaelic geansaidh is also borrowed from Guernsey. Note: ‘Jersey’ is named after Jersey, which is neighbour to the island of Guernsey. 17 Aib, 2020
