Looked at the only tune shown above, and listened to a couple in links, none like my father's one, which was very much Turkey In The Straw, particularly in the second [chorus] strain.
He would have learned it as a Glasgow student in the 1930s, I do not have copies any more of editions of the The Scottish Students' Song Book, mentioned above. I wonder what tune would be in some edition of that?
