There was one piece in particular that rings very true - "In presidential systems of at least middling strength, populists who defeated democracy since 1980 had approval ratings of 80 percent or more — nearly twice Trump’s approval rating, which has been stuck in the 40s both in his first term and so far in his second." In other words, if the president is unpopular, they have little chance of becoming a dictator. What you will have to watch for with Trump though is that he will try to ensure his continuing tenure by other means. The first of which I believe will be leading up to and durung next years mid terms. Although he is so unpopular and everything points to a massive swing to the Democrats, he will move heaven and earth to prevent that from happening. I have been castigated on here before for being a doom monger but saying that it cannot happen has already been proven wrong. Sorry guys but the fight is far from over :-(
