Sorry there is no earlier Irish Original to this, It was definitely written by Joe Wilson, a prolific song writer and music hall performer In Newcastle/tyne. The song is published in the "Complete Joe Wilson" in about 1890. and is also on the album "Joe Lives" with a tune by Alex Glasgow. I have a copy (almost in tatters but the words agree with the dubliners version given) The use of "Gan" for going is a typical geordie usage (geordie = native of Newcastle/Tyne).
