puzzled Buying/Selling Used LPs (4) RE: Buying/Selling Used LPs 19 Feb 99

I just heard that CDs are only expected to have a life of 25 years. Not including the CD software going out of style and use. What a shame that will be to lose the recorded music so fast except for pieces deemed worthy (probably marketably) of re-releasing.
I much perferr vinyl because it is still possible to listen to tunes recorded 50 years ago and more. And I like feeling that i am helping to keep alive American music that would be lost if market were the only determinant.
I wonder how long we can expect tape (reel to reel and cassettes) to last?
