Hi folks!
I am trying to find a song I heard on Prairie Home Companion, probably in the 1980's. It may have been identified as a Robert Burns song, and was performed on a show aired near Robert Burns' birthdate.
The chorus went like this:
We'll over the water, we'll over the sea, We'll over the water to Charilie. Come weal, come woe, we'll gather and go, And live or (and?) die for Charlie.
Here is what I have of the verses:
...I'll gie Don Ross another bawbie To ferry me over to Charlie
It's weel I love my Charlie's name Though some there be abhor him But oot at sea I'll ane poon doon And Charlie's foes afore him
I realize this is a long shot, if anyone knows anything about this song and/or its performance on PHC, please let me know.
Thank you very much!
