...spontaneous rhythm, melody and [a] perfect naturalness of thought and expression. It seemed as nearly capable of singing itself as any chantey I know"
For anyone trying to fit the words to the tune, note that the word Way in the phrase 'Way sing Sunny Dore' lasts for six noes, from the dotted half A to the E. Sing starts on the half note D. The rest should be easy enough to follow.
Carpenter notes a (slight) melodic variation for the second verse, but I've not included it here.
