Iwould have put this in the Daintie Davie thread but this is a filerd site and as soon anything the machine decides is naughty goes on the thread becomes forbidden. - anyway. I came across a reference the other night which stated that Burns used the original tune of Daintie Davie for his song Ther was a lad was born in Kyle, no more info so I don't know which of the tunes we have now is meant to be the original. But intrigued and as I play both tunes, I tried Daintie Davie to the Kyle tune and its really different, to me it changes the whole tone of the song but in a nice. Saying that I still love the Daintie Davie tune I'm used to.
