I've been recommended to try this site by Eliza Carthy - shocked, and honoured,to get an immediate response from her about this query. As a 15 year old I remember hearing Martin Carthy sing a song which included the above lyrics. Some 30 years later I still cannot find it! All I can remember was it was on a compilation album with a title such as English Club Folk vol1.

Thanking you all in anticipation (Eliza remembers it but can't think of the title!)
