I can't find a reference to this song on DT. I remember hearing Burl Ives sing it on one of his early (78rpm) albums, but haven't heard it in years. The first verse goes something like: I, said the little leather-winged bat, I'll tell you the reason that; The reason that I fly (cry?) in the night Is because I've lost my heart's delight. Another verse started, "I, said the woodpecker, sitting on a limb...," but the rest of it is lost in the haze. Can somebody help?
