From Derry's quay we sailed away on the twenty-third of May. We were signed on as passengers on a ship bought down for Americay. Fresh water there we did take on, ten thousand gallons or more, Just in case we run short running down to New York, far away from the shamrock shore. So fare thee well, sweet Lisa dear, and likewise to Derry town, And twice farewell to my comrades all who dwell on that sainted ground. If fortune it ever should favor me, or I to have money in store, I'll go back and I'll wed the wee lassie I left on Paddy's green shamrock shore.
