Jimmy Struthers, a convict at the State Farm, Lynn, VA., who was serving a life sentence for murder, recorded a version for the Library of Congress in 1936, under the title Take This Hammer. This is on Deep River of Song - Virgina and the Piedmont. Minstrelsy, Work Songs and Blues (Rounder CD 1827).
