ooh-aah | Percy Grainger: existing recordings? (27) | Percy Grainger: existing recordings? | 22 May 03 |
I've recently been reading a very good biography of the Australian composer Percy Grainger, with fascinating details of his folk-song collecting activities in Lincolnshire and other places. Apparently he was the first to record songs sung by traditional singers, on wax cylinders. My question is: have these recordings (including Brigg Fair and many other classics) ever been remastered and released in some accessible form? Would Cecil Sharp house in London have them? |
