What a Hoot! This was, and is, the best thread I've seen for months. Yours, Aye. Dave

THanks Snuffy, I thought it was quite funny too. I left to go to a concert and when I came back it was gone. Thanks for resurrecting what you could. I missed being called Soap and Cheese. Now I feel better.

Subject: Total BS: Self? Parody
From: Snuffy

Yesterday afternoon there was a thread that kept a small number of us in hysterical fits of laughter while shorty was out of action. When he came back on-line this thread had been deleted by a power-that-be.

We have been discussing the disappearance in this thread Shorty's Back , and the general opinion seems to be that the thread was pulled because the title was objectionable, not because of the various postings on the thread, which were good-humoured parodies of various 'Catter's styles and obsessions. If that's the case then this attempt to resurrect the thread should survive; if not, then this thread will probably disappear as well!

I managed to resurrect the first 50 postings from my IE history. There were probably only a couple more. If you feel slighted because you're not mentioned, don't complain - log out, come back as a guest and parody yourself. It pays to advertise!

Subject: Mudcat is totally unreliable
From: GUEST,anonymousethief
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:12 PM

Mudcat has gained a reputation on the net for being unreliable and down more than it is up.

What gives?

From: GUEST,kat/katsnotlaughing
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:17 PM

Yes, I have noticed that too. Mudcat has been down a lot of late.

From: GUEST,Catspaw365daysayear
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:19 PM

I am sure that I will think of something dumb to say about this.

From: GUEST,Praisethelord
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:20 PM

Mudcat started going down when I stopped asking Jesus to keep it up.

From: Ebbie
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:22 PM

I keep all three of the incarnations (www.mudcat.org; ragtime.mudcat.org; loki.mudcat.org) bookmarked. When one doesn't go through, I try one of the others. So far, one of them always does, usually loki.

(Note that two of the addresses are not on the www.)

Ebbie

From: GUEST,Joemakemeanoffer
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:22 PM

I will try and find links to previous threads that discuss why Mudcat is down so often.

From: GUEST,Ebbieandflowie
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:24 PM

Thanks Ebbie. I'll have to remember your advice.

From: GUEST,Rick Fieldingofdreams
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:26 PM

This didn't used to happen when before the Internet went electric.

From: GUEST,Maxtheknife
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:28 PM

I think I accidentally cut off the server.

From: GUEST,Ken Doll
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:30 PM

Buy my CD! Barbie did.

From: GUEST,Dick in the Green House
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:32 PM

Buy Ken Doll's CD from me and I'll donate 27 cents to the Mudcat Fixit Fund.

From: GUEST,Catspaw365daysayear
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:34 PM

I am still sure that I will think of something dumb to say about this.

From: GUEST,Matt_R_U_goingtoscarboroughfair
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:36 PM

Mudcat worked better when Mbo was around.

From: GUEST,Ken Doll
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:37 PM

No it did not.

From: GUEST,Matt_R_U_goingtoscarboroughfair
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:38 PM

Yes it did.

From: GUEST,Ken Doll
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:40 PM

You know nothing, you're just a kid. If you want to learn something, buy my CD.

From: GUEST,anonymousethief
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:43 PM

Why does every thread have to turn into this kind of bickering between Ken Doll and Matt_R_U_goingtoscarboroughfair?

From: Giac
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:43 PM

Why not!! This morning I got an e-mail that my ISP has been "acquired" and will change as of tomorrow! Tomorrow for godsake. Why tell me at all, ah mean, AH MEAN, why bother!

See, the problem is, I figure, that all the mice in the Internet wheels have been "acquired" for the recount. Go to bigger wheels and maybe use rats (they'll be out of work after the election fiasco anyhow), bigger and meaner, yup, that'll do it.

... the shark bite, with its teeth, babe, scarlet ...

Giac, who really needs to be at NYCFTTS.

From: GUEST,Ken Doll
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:44 PM

It is because that stupid kid won't buy my CD.

From: GUEST,Matt_R_U_goingtoscarboroughfair
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:47 PM

Gramps, I don't need your geezer music. I can always listen to Leaden Zeppelin sing "Midnight At The Oasis".

From: GUEST,Reallylittlehawk
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:52 PM

I will write a major protest song about the unreliability of Mudcat.

From: GUEST,Catspaw365daysayear
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:55 PM

Why can't I think of something dumb to say about this?

From: Bill D
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 02:59 PM

"please deposit another $2.00 in quarters for 40 more minutes" *ka-ching*

and then go here

From: Ebbie
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:00 PM

LOL!

Ebbie (I've been wishing I had a friend named Flo)

From: Jeri
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:18 PM

Bill D, that's a BIZARRE site! (And this is a bizarre thread, but I can understand someone talking to themselves today.)

Ebbie, how about a song? "Ebbie little thing you do is magic?" My name doesn't make for much fun, but the combination with my middle name does rhyme with a bunch of things.

From: GUEST,Jeriatric
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:41 PM

That's what she thinks.

From: GUEST,Ken Doll
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:43 PM

Jeriatric,

You must be old enough to buy my CD.

From: GUEST,SuperMario
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:46 PM

Do you have a tune for "Mudcat is Totally Unreliable"

From: GUEST,Brew So
Date: 09-Dec-00 - 03:48 PM

"Ye Mudcat is Unrelyabble" was entered in the Stationers Register in 1646. A copy is available on my Scary Songs website.

From: Ebbie

'And its message is subliminal'. Tra la.

Whoever 'Guest' is, I think that it should be recognised that he/she actually makes a fair point.

I love mudcat, and in no way could I provide anything better.

it does get frustrating sometimes, though

If money / time is an issue, nicely done sponsorship would suit me

Even though I am outnumbered by all you commie, pinko, Clinton-loving left-wingers, I can still protest this thread drawing attention from the Democrats attempting to hijack the Florida vote!

From: sophocleese

Shouldn't this be in the Parodies thread?

From: GUEST,*** #1 unPleasant***

This repeated failure of the Mudcat is a conspiracy led by the Pope to stop me posting Orange songs.

From: GUEST,one of the many faces of Eve

why must it be only one idiot? We have large supply.

From: Amergin

What's wrong? Not original enough to make up a name for me?

So tell me why are you acting this way? Are you having domestic problems? Is your dog refusing to touch you now that you ran out of peanut butter? Come on you can tell me....

Speaking of 'totally unreliable', Mudcat won't let me into the membership page- and how else does one log off? I want to be a GUEST!

"Mudcat Is Totally Unreliable" is in fact related to "The Super Search Is Down" and "Why Is Mudcat So Slow" and is described in "The Oxford Book Of Obscure Songs" see also

From: Jeri

There's not much going on, and I think it's pretty funny, myself. I AM, however, extremely upset over one thing - why didn't I think of "Jeriatric?!?!" (Must be the Alzheimer's.)
