Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Layah Date: 11 Feb 05 - 02:37 PM I think Megan's test is a little too strict. While Scottish accents are preferable, I don't have to listen to the guy wearing a kilt, so it's much more important that he just looks good. Sorry Artbrooks, I don't think I'm qualified to judge anyone over the age of 30. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: artbrooks Date: 11 Feb 05 - 02:29 PM Didn't work, OM, try this one.. Now, I'm not at all sure if I pass Megan's test...I can't say loch properly without going into a coughing spasm...but I'm willing to be judged. Any opinions on this (you have to scroll down)? I'm the one that isn't wearing red tights. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Megan L Date: 11 Feb 05 - 01:47 PM Please please please scottish parliment pass a law prohibiting scrawny schilpit wee bauchles, lanky big dreeps or politicians from ever wearing the kilt. "Now sir you wish to wear a kilt wll you have to take the suitability test." 1 Have you a fine broad hip 2 A pair of lovely strong legs 3 Can you say LOCH 4 And finally sir can you roll your R's |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Rapparee Date: 11 Feb 05 - 12:55 PM Could have been a sprouting thong and lime green potato. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: sian, west wales Date: 11 Feb 05 - 12:44 PM Davet, I'm afraid that being Welsh doesn't help you escape kilts There'll be a discombobulating display of knees at this year's St David's Parade in Cardiff, unfortunately. These things are sent to try us. But, now, if we could get some of this leather action going ... mmmmmm. siân |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: SINSULL Date: 11 Feb 05 - 11:41 AM Lime green thong and a sprouting potato - no wonder she cried "Oh"! |

Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: GUEST Date: 11 Feb 05 - 10:23 AM Okay, I will admit that some guys wouldn't look good in a kilt, but for one thing most of the guys I see in kilts are dancers, who all have good legs, and secondly, I would put up with some not so great guys in kilts if it would encourage the rest of them to wear kilts. See if you make them think they all look good they won't worry that They might be the ugly one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Crystal Date: 11 Feb 05 - 10:06 AM Personally I prefer dark tartans (Black Watch, Day Gordon. etc) to solid colours. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Rapparee Date: 11 Feb 05 - 09:42 AM Suppose...just suppose...I could talk someone into make shotgun chaps in tartan leather.... A little sporran in front to both flip up and to keep out the cold, perhaps with an inclinometer to express inclination.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Big Mick Date: 11 Feb 05 - 09:36 AM EPN, why go with a tartan? I prefer the solid colors. Although I have been thinking about the Irish Diaspora tartan. I just enjoy wearing a kilt, even though it isn't all that traditional among the Irish. I usually don't try to wear a tartan, because my folks wouldn't. Kind of like puttin' on airs and all. Maybe a County or Irish National, but the idea of the Irish Diaspora tartan does appeal to me. But usually it is dark green or black for my tastes. I did have a first at a gig that I played recently. A woman asked the age old question, and I told her that I wear 'em commando style. Apparently she didn't believe that because a little later, as I was talking to someone else, she comes up and lifts it and looks. She let out a little "Oh....." and dropped it like it was red hot. The women was embarrassed as hell, and when I went back onstage for the next set, I was merciless. She was my foil for the rest of the night. LOL. Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: jacqui.c Date: 11 Feb 05 - 09:02 AM Mmmmmm.... I like those but my husband thinks I'm hopeless 'cause I just asked him why those models were wearing the jeans! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: el_punkoid_nouveau Date: 11 Feb 05 - 09:00 AM And there was poor little me thinking of buying a kilt - just can't make me mind up which tartan to go for. But it seems it would either drive the ladies wild or destroy my ego... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Rapparee Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:55 AM Women have been trying to talk me out of a kilt for years. Layah, lots of men wear kilts in California -- pop around the San Fran and visit Castro Street. But you UKers don't get the REAL thing for men (and women): shotgun chaps. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Davetnova Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:48 AM Austrians! Huh. Next they'll be saying they were the first to put feathers in their hats. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Davetnova Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:46 AM Big Mick - looking forward to it. It's a seven week wait (hand made) but the 4/5 yard ones just don't hang the same. If you don't have the full length you may as well cover it with trousers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: GUEST,MMario Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:34 AM I've had women trying to talk me into kilts for years - but decided that I'd do the woorld a favour and not. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Big Mick Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:08 AM Dave, you are going to like that black one. I have one, and it is my favorite. I don't mind the casual kilts that are made out of a fabric called Duck. They are made in the traditional style. I can't stand the various "utilikilts" with the pockets. They just look shitty. Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: jacqui.c Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:00 AM Kendall's just shown me a photo of him in a kilt in his younger days. Looking at that I don't think a kilt would be a good idea now - it could end up with a lot of overheated females!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: jacqui.c Date: 11 Feb 05 - 07:48 AM Not sure about the leather trousers but I wonder if I could get the Cap'n into a kilt.... Definitely cold shower time! |

Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Catherine Jayne Date: 11 Feb 05 - 07:01 AM mmmmmm tight leather trousers!!! On the kilt front I suppose it gives easy access and they can't get their 'parts' trapped in the zip! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Crystal Date: 11 Feb 05 - 06:58 AM That is very true LTS some men should not be allowed out of the house without a bag over their heads, let alone be allowed to wear kilts. However some guys should be made to wear them all the time because they look so damm good! Kilts or tight leather trousers! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Feb 05 - 06:56 AM Layah - i refer you to my first post... Not all men look sexy in kilts. Some men couldn't look sexy if they tried. There are some men who are just not sexy. These men should never wear kilts. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Davetnova Date: 11 Feb 05 - 06:52 AM My legs are good. Well, two of them do what their told, the other one does what it wants. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Crystal Date: 11 Feb 05 - 06:39 AM Only men with good legs look good in kilts! This is why guys should be encouraged to dance! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Layah Date: 11 Feb 05 - 06:33 AM A word to all the men out there: kilts make men sexy, wear them more often (not pvc kilts though). I am going to be very disapointed when I move back to California where nobody ever wears kilts. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Davetnova Date: 11 Feb 05 - 05:30 AM Noreen - the second one I like, I may get one. The first one was what I saw. LTS - I can't think who you mean at all. But you're right, most Morris dancers should be kept away from kilts in case anyone gets at the bellrope. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Catherine Jayne Date: 11 Feb 05 - 05:28 AM Work..whats that??>...Im on sick leave..supposed to be relaxing while on full pay!! Those kilts just shouldn't be allowed! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Crystal Date: 11 Feb 05 - 05:26 AM NO NO NO NO NO NO NO AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! It is just wrong. Kilts should NEVER be PVC. Imagine the chafing around the thighs! UGH! Novelty Sporrans are OK though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kilts From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Feb 05 - 05:16 AM There are people who can wear kilts and there are people who can't and there are people who should never be allowed to under the Geneva Convention. I name no names. LTS |
Subject: BS: Kilts From: Davetnova Date: 11 Feb 05 - 05:11 AM I was in getting measured up for a new kilt, a super sexy black one, and I got rather an eye opener. This was a traditional Kiltmaker's shop but in addition to the usual selection of tartans tasteful and modern, and the odd kilt in Hodden grey or super sexy back, there were some even I would be wary of wearing. Utilikilts, denim kilts, camo kilts I can take, even black leather (not as super sexy as wool) but bright red PVC! Pink PVC! Makes me glad I can claim to be Welsh. |
