Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 04 Apr 24 - 07:03 PM Just look at all of the early participants in this thread! Wonderful! The sunshine drifts are deep here today, though we had rain late on Monday and I detected a few small pieces of hail in the potted plants beside the kitchen door. |

Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Joe_F Date: 04 Apr 24 - 06:01 PM There has been almost no snow in Boston this year. I feared a repetition of the bizarre April Fool blizzard of (I think it was) 1996 -- about a foot overnight -- but we were spared. |

Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Apr 07 - 07:24 PM Cold and overcast today in North Texas. This afternoon it is up to 48 degrees, so I'll walk the dogs, but I didn't bother to mow or do the garden work I'd planned. I wasn't sure if it was going to start raining again the moment I got all set up to work. I think my irises survived the cold. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: gnu Date: 08 Apr 07 - 06:06 AM Well, well, well... talk about speaking too soon, baiting the devil, etc (Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:33 AM). That skiff of snow is now over two feet deep behind the truck which I did not bother to park in "storm position". It's a late April Fool's joke by Old Man Winter... we have a storm well underway! |

From: GUEST,Scoville at Dad's Date: 07 Apr 07 - 06:08 PM It's 42 degrees in Houston, and my mother called a bit ago from Waco to tell me that it was colder than that and snowing. It's supposed to be 35 tonight. It;s supposed to be 80 again by Monday, but we'll enjoy this while we can. My long-haired Nordic dog refuses to come in the house. |

Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: SINSULL Date: 07 Apr 07 - 02:16 PM A huge branch broke off from the large tree in my yard. Missed the house and the new roof but dam'n! it missed the fence too. I had hoped... Neighbors lost apple and pine trees. No damage to the houses though. Strange spring. According to the local weather idiot there will be no more snow storms this spring. I hope he is right. This wears thin. |

Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Peace Date: 07 Apr 07 - 12:58 PM Whiners. It has been snowing on and off for weeks here. But then the clock change really screwed up the calendar. Nature thinks it's January, and no one has any idea what time it is. |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Deda Date: 07 Apr 07 - 12:28 PM Boulder, Co -- all the roads and budding trees and little crocuses and daffies are covered with a sheet of ice. Very pretty unless you need to drive. If we're going to go out and do errands, we're going to have to chip our car out from a stubborn ice-mold. |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Ebbie Date: 07 Apr 07 - 12:02 PM Well, I can top you all: I saw a flower this morning! A little snowdrop, and only one, but the snow over it disappeared so recently that I'm struck. The temperatures here in Juneau, Alaska, for the last three days have been in the low 40s and the snow is shrinking and receding and disappearing visibly- it's like watching corn grow in Kansas. At this rate there won't be any snow left in a week. |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Bill D Date: 07 Apr 07 - 12:01 PM Had maybe an inch of snow in northern suburbs of Wash DC when we woke, but it was melting fast....now it's 37° and trying to snow some more. Pretty lame attempt, but interesting. (The daffodils are not very happy about it, though) |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: rock chick Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:50 AM Well it's all blue skys and sunshine here, has been for a few days now, it's even warm enough for shorts, although a bit to chilly at night still. Mind you we have had snow in May before; so who knows tomorrow may be a completely different story!! lol from sunny Kent. |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: AWG Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:40 AM Oh, Midchuk, global warming IS a myth. It's a big conspiracy by those trying to sell electric cars! Use less fossil fuel, get the picture ? |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: gnu Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:33 AM Moncton and southeast New Brunswick (Canada) 10:31 AM ADT Saturday 7 April 2007 Snowfall warning for Moncton and southeast New Brunswick continued Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions. Watch for updated statements. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details and continue to monitor the situation through your local radio and television stations or Weatheradio. Now, here's the laugh.... Snow at times heavy beginning this evening. Amount 10 to 15 cm. Local blowing snow overnight. Wind becoming northwest 40 km/h gusting to 60 overnight. Oh, come on now! Scare people with the big red warning banner when it's just enough of a little skiff to make it look all white and clean... ! |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Midchuck Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:32 AM Well, I think it's been conclusively proved that global warming is a myth! (Actually, I don't think any such thing, but environmentalists have even less sense of humor or irony than feminists; so I set them off whenever I can.) Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: April Showers??? Try snow!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 07 Apr 07 - 11:25 AM Well, Shit. I'm in Texas. Admittedly, it is "North" Texas, but it is still Texas. And it's SNOWING outside. I was going to dig a garden today and do some more transplanting. I doubt this will stick, the soil is way too warm after the 70 and 80 degree days we've had for the last couple of weeks. But my irises are just beginning to open, this is my pallet, I did all of the landscaping myself, and this over-the-top, over-blown flagrant bloom of irises all over my yard (get the picture yet?) is what keeps me going the rest of the year--hoping to find more things to bloom longer and keep it looking so fabulous. So snow is not what I need to keep my irises happy. They're pretty tough, but I don't know if they'll bloom once the head has been that cold. SRS |
