Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Fortunato Date: 19 Oct 00 - 12:56 PM Branwen, you are going to the hallowed land of BeauSoleil and crawfish etoufee. Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Branwen23 Date: 19 Oct 00 - 12:26 PM Would love to come and see you tonight, Jed, but I'm on a plane to New Orleans tomorrow, and haven't done any of the things I need to do before I go (e.g. packing, taking the dog to the boarder, arrange for a rental car, well, anything productive, really) and so will be frantically attempting to accomplish these things today and this evening. Hate to miss it, it's sure to be a great show as always! -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: JedMarum Date: 19 Oct 00 - 12:23 PM sorry to miss! It's a hard thing to juggle, playing as much as we do. We are at the Sons of Hermann tonight with Sara Hickamn and Brave New Combo. Should be a good show. We're up from 7 to 8. We WILL be back to YOBB soon, though. I am at O'Dwyer's on Nov 1, but finish there at 11, so I may be able to make it YOBB very late.

Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 18 Oct 00 - 04:07 PM first of november...middle of october.. so I'm a little fuzzy on the whole "time" thing. Guess I'd have been sitting in the parking lot for weeks wondering "When they gonna open this place?!?" Ah, well, that just means that I get more session tonight. Mimosa, I'm near 635/I35. If you need that ride, call me at 214-334-6001 by 6:30 or so

BTW: Eammon's Kitchen (me, Jed,and Himself)will be playing at YOBB on Oct. 27th for a Halloween party, if anyone's interested. |

Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 18 Oct 00 - 01:30 PM I had an idea that Jed's gig was not for a couple more weeks. Jed, is it tonight? Mimosa |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 18 Oct 00 - 01:26 PM I'll be going and would be glad to help out. I don't get off of work until 7:00 but I'm trying to sneak out early. I'm thinking of dropping by to see Jed at his gig for a bit. I usually leave the session very late, but have been under the weather lately, so will leave earlier than my norm... probably 10-ish, 11 at the latest. I'm fairly flexible in all the above, so let me know if this works for you. Jeff 214-334-6001 |

I am there from 7 to 11. The YOBB session starts at 8 or so if that's not too early, you might be able to o both. O'Dwyers is a new pub in Ft Worth just off 360 by 6 Flags. I am playing their opening night. Just a thought. |

Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Jed at Work Date: 11 Oct 00 - 11:13 AM maybe Cuillin in session is best. They attended the session down at the Celtic Crossing Cafe in Shreveport LA when they were playing at the University there. Guess we need to organize a road trip next time! |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: guinnesschik Date: 11 Oct 00 - 09:15 AM *LOL* I still say session is better. |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: JedMarum Date: 11 Oct 00 - 09:11 AM now if it was Cuillin at the Mist I might have to reconsider! |

Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Branwen23 Date: 10 Oct 00 - 06:07 PM don't know, Jeff... I was wondering is everyone is planning on showing up next week.... Seven Nations is playing at the Emerald Mist that night, and I wondered who was planning on skipping the music session to go see them instead.... I'll probably end up a loser in the pub by myself again.... -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 10 Oct 00 - 12:23 AM Hey.. does anyone know if Albert will be doing his famous Bodhran workshops at the Bedford festival this weekend? Jeff |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 10 Oct 00 - 12:21 AM Rich, It's a real pub in Ft. Worth, with a great friendly session. Amateur that I am, I'm well balanced by some good (and tolerant) musicians. I went with one of Alberts 16" drums to wean myself off of my 18" Paki learner model. I had thought that I had awfully big paws to be stuffing into a 14", but I completely agree on the sound. After listening to both, I can say that it's entirely a matter of personal preference. *Sigh* It's the off week for the every-other week session... rats! I've been living at work since last wednesday and could use a night of yeling my voice to shreds...(it's not much, but it's what I call singing...) I'll be looking forward to seeing all and inflicting my music again soon, Jeff |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Rich(bodhránai gan ciall) Date: 06 Oct 00 - 06:57 PM This is gonna sound dumb but does this thread refer to a real session or is it a virtual on a la Mudcat Tavern sorta thing? Either way, Branwen, I'd recommend the 14" Albert bodhrán. It takes a little getting used to at first, but once you do, you can do anything with it that you can with a 16" drum. What's more, it seems like the tone control is more dramatic. You have to move your left hand more to achieve the same amount of tone variation with a 16" bodhrán. Don't get me wrong, either size of Albert's bodhráns is a fine drum. The 14" is just a personal preference. of mine. I use a foot stool for my left foot. This raises up the playing surface, while still allowing me the smaller drum. Slán, Rich |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: guinnesschik Date: 05 Oct 00 - 09:32 PM Missed you all, and I'm such a jam junkie, I kept looking at the clock and wondering, "So, I bet they've played 'Roddy McCorley' by now." And "I might have time to squeeze in a song or two if I leave NOW," at 10:00 PM. Once touring is over, I know I'll be heading west again! Keep a seat in the corner warm for me! (Well, on second thought....) ;-) |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 04 Oct 00 - 10:24 PM All that fuss, and now it looks like I have to stay away. I hope y'all are having a good time. I'll try to get there next time. Mimosa |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 04 Oct 00 - 06:53 PM I'm trying to sneak out of work now... see everyone there |

Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Wesley S Date: 04 Oct 00 - 05:55 PM Bardford A band from Brittany called KORNOG will be in Bedford { between Ft Worth and Dallas } on Wednesday the 25th. I'll be there. As far as the Bull and Bush goes tonight , alas , I cannot make it. I have a meeting to go to and my Mrs will be arriving at the airport from out of town. I'll do my best to be there next time. I'll be thinking of y'all. "If I can't have a song on my lips then I'll have to settle for a song in my heart" |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 04 Oct 00 - 05:27 PM Hey! Anybody going tonight? Mimosa |
Subject: RE: Dallas/Ft Worth Session II From: RedCelt Date: 04 Oct 00 - 04:42 PM Bardford, here's a site that can give you local venues and who's playing where. I'm woefully ignorant of html coding, so here's the link the hard way... www.scmatx.org/main.htm They'll have a link for venues Jeff |
