Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Lanfranc Date: 29 Jul 01 - 01:34 PM If you find yourself in the vicinity of North or East London, Hertfordshire or Essex it would be good to meet you. My attendance at Llanstock is dependent on workload, and at this point looks problematical. An evening or lunch in the above locations could be arranged, and, who knows, Micca and/or Liz the Squeak or even Kevin (McGrath of Harlow) or Gervase or any of the other South-East England 'catters might be able to attend. Will discuss it in the Snug on PalTalk next Thursday, and PM you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Morticia Date: 29 Jul 01 - 08:04 AM It's okay,Pat....I have warned the local constabulary and the Townswomens Guild, bail money is already set aside and I have several copies of Pervs R Us on order so he can make friends in the local area....all set, Kendall, you can arrive any time you like *BG*. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: kendall Date: 29 Jul 01 - 07:17 AM All you English and Welsh 'catters who would like to get together, would you please PM your address and phone number? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: kendall Date: 29 Jul 01 - 06:43 AM Spaw, you are certifiable! I dont know whem was the last time I laughed right out loud at 6:45 on a Sunday am!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Jul 01 - 12:11 AM Sinsull alluded to Kendall's legal problems that he may be trying to escape and I think it's fair to warn all of you that his trip may have some ulterior motive. The Captain was recently arrested for exposing himself and has a suitcase full cut off pantlegs. Although he has been barred from purchasing trench coats in a 5 state area, I fear he is going to fly out of LaGuardia in New York where they don't know him......yet. So do be careful where you take him and do not give him any time alone...........except perhaps at the Jug where he can expose himself to any raving paranoids, and there seems to be at least one there. When the police searched his house they found a lot of articles on England, but specifically an awful lot of stuff about Charles and Camilla. My guess would be that he has a plan to expose himself to them. This is very logical as neither of them has any idea what a real penis looks like and although Kendall ain't much, he has Charlie beat hands down....or up....well, you know what I mean. Just wanted to let you all know..........just in case. Spaw

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Midchuck Date: 28 Jul 01 - 10:16 PM I always knew I was born 800 years too late. 800 years ago, you'd have had to play a lute with gut strings and friction pegs. Want to try to tune one of those, and then to make any real noise on it? And, of course, there's very little chance either one of us would have lived to our present ages with the medical care and sanitation they had then - and I, at least, if I had, wouldn't have had a tooth left in my head, so I couldn't sing very well. I think probably every one of my teeth has at least one filling, but I still have them all. The interesting question to me is, if I'd been born 800 years in the future, would things be better or worse? Or would they be similiar to 800 years in the past? Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Peg Date: 28 Jul 01 - 10:06 PM well that oak is rather grand; I've seen it. Certainly worth a vsiit if you are really interested in Robin Hood...
|
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: kendall Date: 28 Jul 01 - 09:48 PM Sherwood is special to me, Robin Hood has been a hero of mine since I was a boy. It might be a stretch for me to sing about a man who doesn't exist in a forest that doesn't exist. I always knew I was born 800 years too late. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Peg Date: 28 Jul 01 - 08:26 PM Nottingham is quite a lovely town, but no, there is no forest really left anymore...you might like the Forest of Dean in Oxfordhsire (I think? or is it Hampsire?) I think you'd love Glastonbury, and if you go to Stonehenge plan to stay in Salisbury, and to visit Avebury (a much more accessible stone circle built around a tiny village) while you are the area.. Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 28 Jul 01 - 07:29 PM There's a mighty tree, known as the Mighty Oak, which is certainly a few hundred years old; there are a few hundred acres of mature forest, and a few thousand of forestry plantations. And Nottingham's castle is hugely eclipsed by many others, but the city does claim to have the oldest pub in Britain, the Trip to Jerusalem. It was from there (allegedly) that Robin and his merry men set forth on King Richard's crusade against Saladin. Until a year or two ago, you could at least have visited "the World of Robin Hood," built around the set of the Kevin Costner film, but I'm afraid even that's gone now. Maybe the sheriff is still in office though, because someone keeps hiking up the council tax. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: kendall Date: 28 Jul 01 - 06:29 PM Are you telling me that Sherwood is no more? Damn, I wanted to stand there and sing LONESOME ROBIN. Maybe I'll settle for the town square in Nottingham. Is that nasty sheriff still around? |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall in England From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 28 Jul 01 - 03:57 PM Should have said that two nearby towns have folk clubs - Mansfield's is Tuesday nights, Newark's Wednesday nights. |

Don't want to put you off your plans, but there are many more interesting areas of England/UK you might want to take in first. |
