Brass instruments make great worms for stills. Never will forget when we used the sousaphone for a run of The Crayture. We poured the still beer into the still, capped 'er off with the sousaphone, and afore ya know it we'd run out twenty gallons in B-flat and twenty more in C. Two days later the sousaphone player was unhappy because the fumes gave her a hangover that didn't go away for over a year and a half. Usta knead the biscuit dough by tying a bag of it to the end of the trombone slide, too. And what ya kin do with a French horn don't bear tellin'.

Y'all should give up on them stringed instrument and start explorin' REAL musical queseen.

Actually, a mandolin is essential for thinly slicing potatos to make Gratin Dauphinois

I have found that a banjo will serve as a good frying pan - if the needs arises.
