Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: reggie miles Date: 07 Nov 12 - 02:09 PM On April 6th of this year, Mike Chandler asked if he could video my performance at Sliders Cafe. He managed to capture some sweet videos. In this one I was asked to share some of my musical sawplaying efforts with a few children before they had to be on their way... ABC Song & When You Wish Upon A Saw I really appreciate Mike having captured this next video while he was there. This video has since earned me some viewer's awards via my posts of it online... Reggie Miles - Makin' Bacon Here's one more sweet Mike Chandler capture from the same show She's Trouble During my performance at The Historic Everett Theatre on 11/18/11, for their Hometown Hootennany Concert Series, Jesse James captured the following video of my original song, "The Reason Why". The camera mic also captured the family of one of the house band members shedding more than a few tears because he had recently passed away... The Reason Why And here's one more Jesse James capture, this time, from an October 9th 2012 appearance. I chose this collection of verses, from various new and used Blues, to blend with this guitar riff and produce my own... Mojo Hand |

Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 21 Sep 12 - 05:43 AM Yesterday I recorded myself singing my own slightly more jazzy arrangement of Mississippi John Hurt's "Let the mermaids flirt with me". On my new Guild Jumbo guitar. Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me - Mississippi John Hurt cover It was the first time I've tried using my MacBook's built-in PhotoBooth application to film and record direct to my Mac. Was very pleasantly surprised at the results. Frankly the picture quality is just as good as using my camera, the sound is if anything better (as you can adjust the recording volume level in Preferences menu). And the ease of use - once you get used to angling a laptop, that is! - is a massive plus. Really nice to be able to see what you're filming on a decent-sized screen! |
Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: Tattie Bogle Date: 14 Sep 12 - 07:09 PM A tune I wrote while in Spain in May: videoed on our balcony in Alcossebre, hence called the "Alcossescocia Rumba" - had to be done quickly in one take, so not perfect! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nqqNabEZ4g And if that was a bit slow, here it is back home again with a few friends playing it, on Soundcloud with me on piano this time: http://soundcloud.com/tattieb/the-alcossescocia-rumba |

Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: it'smagic Date: 15 Aug 12 - 01:26 PM Copyright issues are valid if they protect the artist. However, they mostly protect the large music companies. Youtube has been rattling so many sabers recently that account holders remove videos for fear of having them removed -- which also is increasingly happening. Three or four on my playlists (not uploaded by me) have been removed, and I am not even sure which they are. They are probably songs I have on CD, anyway, but as I like to share music with friends and don't know how to convert my iTunes to mp3 it is helpful to have them on YT. |

Without my knowledge an impromotu performance I did of Mr Soundman (in my guise as Tone-deaf Lime Clinton)for the regular open mike soundman at Jagz,Ascot, Ron Vass, was put on Youtube. Proves why I don't normally perform in this country. Not for the sensitive or fainthearted: Mr Soundman RtS |

Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 03 Aug 12 - 05:22 AM Gavin - there's been some discussion of the copyright problem in a few other youtube threads. You can object to their assertion. IIRC they flag the video and there's a button/link where you can state your case that the copyright doesn't belong to someone else. I had this on one of my videos (a Carolan tune I think). All I said was that the composer had been dead since whatever date and that the arrangement was mine. The flagging disappeared and nothing else happened. Just state that it's a traditional song and your arrangement and you should be fine. Mick |
Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: GUEST,Gavin Atkin Date: 03 Aug 12 - 02:59 AM A fabulous old song learned from a recording of Harry Cox in which a young sailor comes home from sea – and learns the hard way that he's only wanted for his money. It's a bitter lesson, but a common one and very necessary for a young inexperienced man with gold in his pockets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oVf94VMWE0 What I don't understand is that YouTube has already decided that the copyright for either this traditional song or my performance - or maybe both - belongs to someone else. It seems to be a new thing for YouTube to do this - can anyone explain? Gavin |

Subject: RE: Mudcatters on YouTube From: GUEST,Blandiver Date: 01 Jul 12 - 04:11 AM It made for a nice exchange in the end though. As I said at the time, YouTube is good because people are more - er - honest in their appraisals without the cloying sycophancy that typified Myspace at the time. Recently picked up a Troll on the Come Write Me Down footage of us at the Morpeth Gathering a few years back which was a bit irksome though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IJQzcyDTQI |
