Well, you can't catch everything.
I do not blame you for being confused. Confusion is the only thing in which we can ever really have in common.
For example:
We are winning the war/we are losing the war,
Bush was a fighter pilot like his dad/he never served,
9-11 was a Iraq terror plot/it was an inside job,
Our military is the reason for US power/education is the reason for US power,
Bush listens to God/Bush listens only to the American Enterprise Institute,
Protestors are traitors/now cons are traitors to the Constitution,
There is no global warming from CO2/there are inconvenient truths,
We can't fish out the oceans/we can trawl the oceans to death,
Elections can't be fixed, elections are usually fixed,
Bush Jr. is a visionary like Lincoln and a war president like FDR/Bush is an idiot puppet son of a CIA President.
Let's surge/lets pull out.
If con is the opposite of pro, what is the opposite of progress?

To cut through some of the confusion always remember that the ability of the population to be confused, should never be under estimated.

Maybe I missed something but what has our elected official done in W.D.C for the people of the United States in the past 3 months besides playing political politics?
