Les made me (and most of the rest of the audience) cry with laughter, and Mike and Martin reminded me of how I was captivated by the Watersons and Carthy when I first heard them.... Subject: Review: Maidenhead Birthday Concert From: Leadfingers Date: 01 Apr 07 - 07:23 AM The Seven Stars , Knowl Hill , 31st March 2007 A superb Sold Out concert to celebrate Maidenhead's Thirty Fifth Birthday with Les Barker , Martin Carthy and Mike Waterson . We kicked off with a half hour of assorted tunes from the Folk Club Scratch band - Fiddle x 2, Melodeon , Concertina , Mandolin , Whistle and guitar x 2 . Les did two sets , and was - - LES - In other words , Bloody funny ! Martin and Mike did alternate songs for their bits , First time I have seen Mike in a club since Hitchin in 1964 ! All in all a Cracking Good evening ! Back to Normality next week with a singers Night on Thursday ! |
