Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: dianavan Date: 09 Apr 07 - 11:46 PM Here are some photos of the Iraqi demonstration. I am amazed! From all accounts it was a peaceful demonstration with no U.S. military to be found (except overhead in helicopters). Doesn't it strike you as strange that this many Iraqis can gather together peacefully but it costs the U.S. billions of dollars and countless numbers of lives to control Iraq? |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Donuel Date: 09 Apr 07 - 11:16 PM There is some good news out of Iraq!! During Saddam's reign, tattoos were punished with the death penalty. Now Iraqis may have any tattoo they want. The only problem is that many have the dilemma of getting a tatto that says Death to American, or heart that says 'Mom'. They are going with Death to America because you never know when your feelings about Mom would change. |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Peace Date: 09 Apr 07 - 10:23 PM This has to be a tough one for our brothers/sisters/friends in the US. Their government is ineffectual, most Americans are somewhat shamed that they have the leadership they do, and those kids are stuck in Iraq having to take orders from a C-in-C like Bush. Yes, get the kids home. Now would be good. And let Saudi Arabia arm the Sunnis. And Iran the Shi'ites. And Lord knows who the Kurds. In two years, when another Somalia or Rwanda has occurred, maybe then the fu#kin' UN will get OFF its ass and at least help clean up the mess. |

I love that one!! |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Little Hawk Date: 09 Apr 07 - 07:48 PM I'd like to drop George Bush and Dick Cheney naked in the middle of Sadr City. Let them hobnob with the locals for a bit. Get to know the people. |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: dianavan Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:21 PM Some would say that this is a sign that the surge is working. Four years ago, a peaceful demonstration could not have taken place. ;^} Any excuse will do when you're trying to cover your butt. |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Amos Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:18 PM Ya know, it strikes me as a lot more simple, sometimes, than it is being said to be. 1. Massive disarmament of military weapons. 2. Strict constitutional protections against religious discrimination or any use of the government to shield or forward religious agendas. 3. Establishment of an army and a province-by-province police force. 4. Uniform educational opportunities without regard to sect or gender. 5. Establishment of parliamentarian processes they can live with. This is a big task, any one of them is huge, but it is within the power of the Iraqi people, especially if they respond to one charismatic leader who believes they should not kill one another. A |

Subject: RE: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Donuel Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:18 PM After the President's comment regarding the Iraqi demonstrations, Al Sharpton said "that boy don't know Shittes from shinola". |

Subject: BS: TODAY the Iraqis STOOD UP From: Donuel Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:10 PM Some estimates say upwards to 100,000 demonstrators took to the streets. George said the US would stand down when the Iraqis stood up. Today he said that he didn't say "Simon says" stand up so it doesn't count. |
