Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Don Firth Date: 16 Apr 07 - 01:13 PM Isn't it fortunate that the Consitution is so difficult to change or ammend? The Founding Fathers knew full well that there were going to be a lot of idiots out there, so they set it up so that a lot of people would have to do a lot of careful thinking, and then agree on the changes or ammendments. Of course, there is the current administration's method: despite taking an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution, just ignore it. Don Firth |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: frogprince Date: 16 Apr 07 - 11:18 AM "A Creed for the American Conservative of Today" 1. Remember that the founders of this country were inspired by Almighty God. Any change in our nation's laws or Constitution more recent than the original 10 amendments, the "Bill of Rights", is in violation of His will. 2. Whatever the Bible says is wrong, is wrong; we have already gone astray in far too many respects, such as: A. not only allowing women to speak in our churches, but in many cases allowing them to usurp positions of authority. B. abolishing slavery; the Bible gives extensive guidance in the care and management of slaves; it should be obvious from this that our almighty and unchanging God has always willed that slavery be a normal institution of society. 3. If God had wanted the other people of this earth to enjoy the privileges and benefits of American citizenship, they would have been born here. 4. If you want to enjoy the privileges and benefits of American life, speak American; not some heathen foreign tongue, not some dialect distinct from that spoken by our Founding Fathers, not "English", but proper American. 5.. The goverments, and legal systems, of the other nations of earth are NOT inspired by God. Therefore it is inappropriate for any American to pay any heed to them whatever. 6. No one has ever achieved a position of earthly authority apart from the will and purpose of God. Therefore Americans not only have no right whatever to disobey any American law, but it can be further stated that it is a sin before God, and should be punishable under law, to fail to cooperate to the full extent of one's ability with all policies and actions of our national leaders. Above all it is crucial that no American should ever hesitate to kill whomever our national leaders tell us to kill. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: mack/misophist Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:56 AM Most of the founding fathers were deists. It's not really what you seem yo be talking about. IIRC, 'In God we trust' is a relatively new addition. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Peace Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:43 AM I figured that, Mick. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Peace Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:43 AM Why did whoever wrote the new preamble split the infinitive in Article 2? |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Big Mick Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:42 AM This wasn't started by a GUEST, Bruce. It is a member who doesn't want to use his/her name. Given the bullshit s/he posted, I can see why s/he doesn't want to stand by it. BTW, I am in favor of no GUESTS being allowed to start threads in the BS section. Mick |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Rapparee Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:42 AM Of the European languages, Spanish was spoken here long before English. But then, there were a whole bunch of languages already being spoken before the Spanish/Chinese/Polynesians/Vikings/Celts or whoever got here. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Big Mick Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:38 AM The first language wasn't English. Also, most of the immigrant communities retained their languages, as well as learning English. Ever drive through the old neighborhoods in Baltimore? Or Chicago? Or Detroit? You will still see signs in the native languages of the ethnic groups that inhabited them. Polish, Italian, Spanish, Greek. People that spout this bullshit are the problem, not the immigrants they seek to defame. If their own ancestors had the restrictions on them that they seek to put on others, they would be spouting a different line. L/M/SS, is it because they aren't white that you worry about this???? |

Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Rapparee Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:36 AM It's also nothing at all like the Preamble to the Constitution.... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: Amos Date: 16 Apr 07 - 09:33 AM It is also historically inaccurate. This country was founded on a belief in individuals, not a belief in God. A |

Subject: BS: New Preamble to the Constitution From: GUEST,Sensible Sally Date: 16 Apr 07 - 08:57 AM Finally someone got it right! ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but No one is guaranteeing anything. ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is Based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; But the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be. ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool Manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy. ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the Creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. (This one is my pet peeve..get an education and go to work don't expect everyone else to take care of you!) ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care. ARTICLE VI:You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair. ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure. ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights. ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! and lastly.... ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!! |
