I shook hands with Lenny the Lion (and so by default Terry Hall) when they appeared at Sydenham Gas Board showroom somewhere round the early 60's I would guess.

Such were the crowds and the excitement that my sister who was a few years older than me was somewhat overcome with it all. She managed to have a private meeting afterwards and had a KISS from Lenny the Lion.

Long time ago.

There's a tiny snippet of Terry & Lenny at the end of this rather tuneless hit of the 60's:

At the risk of hijacking Terry Hall's thread: Yes I remember Shari Lewis, with her talking socks, Lambshop and Charlie Horse. (I've just realised - aren't Charlie and Horse both slang for drugs? If it was intentional, it certainly passed me by at the time.)

Now. Ray Allan, I think, is still alive. But does anyone know what's become of Lord Charles? Or Tich and Quackers, come to that?

The Lion and the Lamb(chop), anyone remember Shari Lewis?
RIP Terry Hall, one of the great old timers.

They used to advertise Trebor mints, didn't they? I remember being taken to Blackpool as a child to see them perform - either at the pier or the Winter Gardens, I don't remember which - and my younger brother thrusting forward to be able to shake Lenny's hand. (Like the Muppets, one of his arms was like a sleeve for Terry's arm, so he had a very mobile paw).

He certainly made us happy, and it was nice to be reminded of it, albeit in sad circumstances.

What's Lenny going to do now?
