Subject: RE: Folk in Chorlton, Manchester From: Les in Chorlton Date: 23 May 07 - 01:54 PM Thanks for coming and singing Dave! The Irish session down stairs was as good as it gets. They play, as I am sure you are aware, every week and have moved from the Marble to the Beech to the Feathers and it looks like the Lloyds. It's difficult to see what we might do but singers sessions, Ceilidhs, sorry can't spell it, one off concerts, supports for particular issues are all possible. What ever happens we are keen to involve as many people as possible and to try different things. If nothing else we have to find a small friendly room where we can sing each others choruses and drink decent beer. Thanks for your support and I will keep you and John and loads of others in touch. Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: Folk in Chorlton, Manchester From: GUEST,Dave Bishop Date: 23 May 07 - 05:30 AM Great night, Les. Thanks for organising it. It looks to me that there might be scope for more folk in Chorlton. As for the Irish session downstairs - it was really good to see so many young musicians participating. |

Subject: RE: Folk in Chorlton, Manchester From: John Routledge Date: 22 May 07 - 01:42 PM This event was a superb contribution to Chorlton Arts Festival. It would be great to have another event even without The Festival :0) The room seemed completely soundproofed from the more generally more frenetic Irish session going on downstairs It is a while since I have seen an audience at a folk event so absorbed. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. |
Subject: RE: Folk in Chorlton, Manchester From: Les in Chorlton Date: 22 May 07 - 03:13 AM Thanks to Madcap - so much more than a Ceilidh Band, Keith and Sam Hancock, Dave Bishop, John Routledge, Olga, Robin and not forgetting Ken, Mike and Bill for being the Ghyll Head Band. Thanks to Fiona Stuart for organising the Festival and Marek and staff at the Lloyds for a great venue. The Irish Session in the bar was second to none. I think we raised the temperature of the Chorlton Arts Festival a bit and around £100 towards the Ghyll Head 40th Anniversary Celebration - 07/07/07 at Ghyll Head. PN me for further details. And thanks to around 90 people who tried to sit on 50 chairs. |
