If I'm traveling alone it will be just me and my guitar case... and a little bag. Any soft spot will do for sleeping. If I have Wakana trailing along then things will get expensive. However, staying with Micca and Liz would be a lovely way to wander in England when I get tired of that little squalling squab my daughter presents to me.

Singapore ought to have the connections you need.

Like I said Brett, there's a bed here for your London leg... maybe even a duvet too!

Another suggestion or two.

How easy is it to get to a "hub" like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok? Most of those have reasonably-priced flights to the UK.

Also try Trailfinders UK - who are rightly regarded as good at this sort of thing.

I have no prejudices against any airline. My brother-in-law is a cabin attendant for United and tells apocalyptic stories of the non-USA flights. There's one, he claims, where they choose the stewardesses only based on their appearance and give them no training other than how to wait on the customers. Consequently (still his story) when there is an accident the passengers have to figure out for themselves how to get out of the plane, frequently rescuing panicked stewardesses. It goes to show you how much I worry about that. I cannot remember the name of the airline.

Thanks, Kat, for those sites. I know about Boots n' All. I always thought that was the best way to travel but I have to agree with Liz on the fares. I too am poor. It will take a hell of an effort to save the money for this trip and then I will be traveling on a shoestring. Next winter I will post a thread begging for beds and breakfasts in exchange for music and gifts from the Pacific Islands.

Brett, I've travelled with Korean Air to London via Seoul (from Australia, but from Guam wouldn't be much different). It was a few years ago, but I was very impressed with them - best of the airlines I've been on in fact. You could do a lot worse!

Brett, I know nothing about this site, I found it with a google search using "world travel flights;" but maybe it will be helpful: Bootsnall.

There's also this one that may have something.

And, maybe this one.

Hoep those help.:-)

Try cheapflights.co.uk or opodo.co.uk.

Did you try Expedia.co.uk? If the airport in Guam is Aguna, Expedia gives lots of routes via Osaka, Seoul, Helsinki, Paris, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Paris, Munich & Vienna, but the dates only go as far as April 2008 so prices won't be close.

It depends entirely on your budget and your idea of cheap (cheap for me is less than 4 figures but I'm poor!). The cheapest on offer for the latest dates they show is just over £2,100, via Seoul, Korean Air.

I know you aren't in the UK, so it'll seem silly looking at a UK site, but it really does tilt the bias away from the US and may give you some other destinations to consider. It's like travelling in the UK... any travelling planners here make you go to London first whether it's on your direct route or not!

Good luck, hope to meet up with you when you get here - we may even have a bed for you!

Thanks, I've tried Orbitz, Travelocity, Flights.com and a few more. They all route flights through the USA. There's gotta be something else.

I'll keep looking.

I'd meet with a travel agent and then only go on airlines I had heard of, which is my general rule anyway. mg

Some time in 2008, mid spring (for Great Britain), I will be going to England to meet my first grandchild. Needless to say this is an exciting prospect.

The trip from Guam to England is long and requires many plane changes. This too is expected. Previous trips put together using the computer have taken me to the USA and England via the USA. But, from Guam, that is the long way to England. I'm looking for another route.

I have a friend and professor to claims it would be shorter and cheaper to go west from here over the Asian subcontinent and then north from, say, Dubai. But then we run into a problem.

All the traveling websites that I know of are focused on traveling to or through the USA. I need to figure out how to plan a trip from Guam to England without crossing the American continents. Of course, one of the most important requirements is that it must be cheap.

Any suggestions?
