Thanks DF and Jed, I'd wondered about the Mucky Duck, but I've read mixed reports. I guess the best thing would be to go take a look, might well do that on Saturday.

I'd like to get up and sing a couple at an open-mic on the Sunday but, alas, not taking my guitar, so active participation's out, but it would be good to have a coffee or two and listen to some locals.

Fortunately I'll be in the company of Houstonians, so they should be able to direct me.

The Mucky Duck has Patty Larkin on the 16th. It'll probably be a great show. It's one of Houston's finest music room, and not far from where you'll be. Here's their particulars:

Try Anderson Fair Retail - on Grant/Welch, just north of the intersection of Westheimer and Montrose; Great folk music, some of the best performers around. If you are near the Astrodome, I think you could just take Kirby down to Westheimer and turn right.
