Subject: RE: Only 6 wooly mammoth ivory guitar picks! From: GUEST,TJ in San Diego Date: 07 Jun 07 - 07:05 PM I once had a geology professor who told us of a trip to the Smithsonian, where the attendees were offered the opportunity to taste meat from a mammoth recently recovered from Siberian ice. He declined, but said that those that partook all became deathly ill with the "mammoth two-step." For that reason, I decline the picks - they probably harbor pathogens unknown to modern science. Maybe you'd come down with a terminal case of hairy fingers! |

Subject: RE: Only 6 wooly mammoth ivory guitar picks! From: beardedbruce Date: 07 Jun 07 - 01:53 PM Fossil ivory, such as from mammoths, is NOT restricted. Now, if we find a LIVE mammoth, THEN the law might change! |

Subject: Only 6 wooly mammoth ivory guitar picks! From: katlaughing Date: 07 Jun 07 - 01:26 PM Mudcatter, "bet", also my sister, is having trouble with her ISP, so I thought I'd post a tidbit she passed on. Seems the Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska, has six guitar picks made from woolly mammoth ivory for sale. she said they are very stiff and expensive...$35 a piece! I asked how they could make them, legally, and she said it was because they were from findings from before the law saying they couldn't use ivory or somesuch, anyway it's legal. That would be something, wouldn't it? Where dja get the pick? Oh, off a woolly mammoth! |
