I really like Edward Hopper's work, and I was amazed when
I eventually found examples of his work, how the images in my mind and
on my canvas had such a similar feeling.

I own a beautiful coffee table book of Edward Hopper's art,
and Nighthawks is on the cover.

Just looked at yours, and at Nighthawks, Alice; from what I can judge online, I would have assumed you were clearly influenced by Hopper.

Edward Hopper, Nighthawks.

When I was an undergrad art student, one of
the grad students came into my studio and said
my work reminded him of Edward Hopper.
I didn't know who he was talking about.
At that point, my art history classes had only gotten
up to Leonardo. They taught art history
in a chronological order, starting with prehistory,
and I had not reached the recent century yet. My work then was about
interiors and neighborhoods where I had grown
up and also where I lived as a student.

funny, you just answered a question for me too on the blue Clicky above Wys, someone gave me a copy of "American Gothic" by Grant wood, but I didnt know it was an actual Painting, I thought it was something to do with "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"!!!!

You may not be aware of it -- few are -- but one of the characters sitting in the restaurant in that painting is Chongo Chimp.

Okay, everyone knows this painting and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out who painted it???

I've looked in all my art books and can't find it...

It's "The Diner" with an image of lookin' into a diner in the middle of the night... There are just a couple people in the diner... One, if my memory serves me is like a James Dean lookin' person???

Hooper???

Of geeze... My brain ain't up to what it used to be...
