I overcame my triskadekaphobia on the night of Friday the 13th to the point of actually going to hear Tony Trischka, who took part in a concert on the final night of Common Ground On The Hill in Westminster MD, play his banjo and felt lucky to be there!

Naw, that one's horsecrap. The date is correct but Friday the 13th as seems to be a 20th century invention although no one can seem to figure exactly when.

Doesn't the Friday the 13th belief come from the murders of the Knights Templars? One of the popes decreed their deaths, sent secret correspondences to all the kingdoms threatening excommunications if the kings & queens didn't kill the Templars on the pre-set time, which was a Friday the 13th. Forgot the details other than that. De Molay was one of those killed. They were all tortured to death, as was the custom at the time.

We had a lovely day. The landlord and landlady came round with the gas man to service the gas appliances and renew the corgi certificate. They brought a lovely present for Harry and we had a nice chat. The afternoon was spent baking and relaxing.

I've never had a problem with Friday 13th and 13 as a number I quite like!

The 13th is unlucky for - whom? Everybody? Is that even possible?

if noteverybody, who/what chooses LTS and others? How is the choosing of the unlucky ones done? Einstein didn't think God played dice. He said nothing about coin-flipping.

In Judaism, 13 is lucky, if I remember aright.

Well by 11.00am, I'd missed a dental appointment, scrunched up a wheel trim, banged my head in the loft, nearly fallen off the loft ladder when it suddenly jumped to the left, sent the same text message 3 times without realising it to the wrong person, stumbled over a lump in the road and bitten my cheek by accident.

But that's pretty normal for me most days!

I seem to have made it through this Friday the 13th without having my car rear-ended, as happened the last time the ominous date roled around. I know the day's not over yet, so it could theoretically still happen, but it's pretty unlikely since the car's parked in the driveway, 400 yards from the street, and I have no plans for going out this evening. It's far more likely that a tree will fall on it instead.

Well, at least it is great to have Friday the 13th on a Friday this month. Some months it comes on Tuesday or even Thursday. Last month for instance Friday the 13th came on a Wednesday.

A very modern phenomenon. Thirteen was a lucky number in medieval times. Friday the 13th seems to be a Victorian contrivance, perhaps based on the notion the Judas was the the 13th disciple, combined with the fact that Friday has always been considered an unlucky day.
