Subject: BS: HBO documentary - Alive Day From: Wesley S Date: 14 Sep 07 - 03:48 PM This is the second time I've shilled an HBO special. But sometimes they do some amazing work. In this case the show is called "Alive Day" and it's a project from James Gandolfini - who wisely avoided politics in the presentation. Here's something from the website: Alive Day Memories "In a war that has left more than 27,000 wounded, ALIVE DAY MEMORIES looks at a new generation of veterans. For the first time in American history, 90% of the wounded survive their injuries, but a greater percentage of these men and women are returning with amputations, traumatic brain injuries and severe post-traumatic stress. More than half these injuries are too severe to permit a return to active military service." Warning - this is a very difficult program to watch. There is graphic footage. And I hope every member of congress gets to see it. Eveyone who watches it is liable to come away with something different. But I can't imagine anyone seeing this and not being profoundly moved. |
