Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: JohnB Date: 25 Oct 07 - 12:16 PM I thought it was a pretty good diverse programme, it's great to get to hear some of this stuff over here in the USA (that's the Uther Side of the Atlantic, I live in Canada) The BBC play it again thing is a really great resource. Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: GUEST,buspassed Date: 25 Oct 07 - 04:45 AM I remember that show , in fact i know I've got it on MD somewhere among 20 or 30 others still to be labelled up! I recall thinking at the time it was typical of EC to play all English music on a Radio Scotland show! |

Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: Mrs_Annie Date: 25 Oct 07 - 04:02 AM I'm remembering a few years ago when Eliza stood in for Archie Fisher on his BBC Radio Scotland programme. It was a gem and I am so pissed I didn't record it. She had several musicians there in the studio as guests - from memory Spiers & Boden, Andy Cutting? Anyway it was very good. I said then she should be given a radio show. |

Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: greg stephens Date: 24 Oct 07 - 03:51 PM A model of music broadcasting I thought. Like getting a cassette compilation from a friend at Christmas, somebody who has put good thought into an interesting selection. So your mind is expanded by hearing stuff you don't know about, but are now delighted to have discovered. A few old favourites, some challenging new material that makes you think. Great stuff altogether. |

Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: GUEST,K Date: 24 Oct 07 - 08:38 AM A very good programme, I thought. It made me go in search of more information about Alasdair Roberts. His 'Cruel Mother' left me open-mouthed - what a knockout voice and arrangement. k. |

Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: GUEST,buspassed Date: 23 Oct 07 - 03:30 PM As weirdly eclectic as Mr. K but content slanted more towards evolving folk, perhaps EC and AK could alternate as presenter when Andy returns or even present together, that would be worth a listen! |

Subject: Eliza Carthy on BBC Radio 3 (UK) From: greg stephens Date: 23 Oct 07 - 10:45 AM Eliza C was doing the Andy Kershaw spot on Radio 3 last night, and played an abolulutely stunning(and thoroughly weird) version of th Grey Funnel Line. I infortunately didn't catch the name of the singer: can anybody help with any background info, recording details or whateve? I was gobsmacked, and I am rarely gobsmacked! |
