Subject: RE: BS: Rumors vs hard news From: Donuel Date: 30 Nov 07 - 01:37 PM Another year of "Vote for the soul deadening, destructive, more of the same candidate of our choice!" to go. |

Subject: RE: BS: Rumors vs hard news From: Amos Date: 30 Nov 07 - 01:13 PM It a sign of extreme mental desperation on the part of those generating these stories. It is destructive and soul-deadening, bad for self, nation and species. Ptui, I say. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Rumors vs hard news From: Rapparee Date: 30 Nov 07 - 12:13 PM Read some newspapers of the past. They have always been full of rumor, unless they are Canadian or UKish, when they're full of rumour. For example, there's the pending divorce between George and Laura Bush...Laura caught GW with Condi Rice; Laura has moved into some hotel near the White House, etc. But for REAL rumormongering you can't beat the newspapers of the past. |

Subject: BS: Rumors vs hard news From: Donuel Date: 30 Nov 07 - 12:06 PM Obama is a stealth Muslim? (front page Washington Post) Obama seen eating vegetables, fuels rumors of vegan muslim extremism Is it time to elect a lesbian for President? (picture of Hillary) Some examples are better than others but I am hard pressed to find news which is not rumor or fluff or blatently fake anymore in main stream newspaper or TV. Of course politics is an emotional game played with propoganda's reversal of truth rules, so I have come to expect rumor being touted as news if its on paper or RV screen. Naturally as a response we now give the blog more credence than News services. The time lag for the initial blog news to big media news is often a year or more. Courts have ruled that national news services may deliberately lie about any story they choose. Lieing by ommision is now considered to be loyal silence and not despicable. There are several contributors here who have editorial accuracy far above any national news media corporation. |
