It's a region, the Arctic, not a point. You go straight in North until you are well into it, and then turn East.

Well, East North makes as much sense as North East.

As it happens, I live due South of the North Pole, myself. A Happy New to any other Mudcatters who can claim the same distinction.

I dunno' Mac but we have a street in Columbus named "East North Broadway" so I reckon the possibilities are there.........

I was reading some page where they were talking about "the Eastern Arctic" - and it struck me that there that that's a pretty strange concept. How can you have an Eastern or Western Arctic?

PErhaps we should put up a fence to prevent them from sidling in and stealing food from grizzlies and Kodiaks. We could ask W to patrol it after he leaves the White House -- he's used to cold shoulders.

Most polar bears don't live in the USA chunk of the Arctic. That's perhaps just as well.

The United States delayed a decision on whether global warming threatens polar bears, saying on Monday new data and public comment required more time.(Reuters)

I wish they'd hurry up and tell the polar bears..they're getting nervous.
