Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 09 Apr 08 - 01:15 PM It could be because Obama just naturally sparks more enthusiam in people who are strongly interested in partisan politics than Hillary Clinton does... ;-) After all, what does "rabid" mean in the political context? It means strongly partisan. Is that bad or is it good? Depends on your given set of prejudices, I guess. I don't belong to any political party, and never shall, by the way. So I'm a bit wary of people who are overly partisan. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: GUEST,Convidado Date: 09 Apr 08 - 08:06 AM Odd, the Progressive magazine's pages are showing that the most rabid Dems seem to have lined up behind Obama this year. That would be the same rabid Dems who have attempted to destroy Nader, and hand elections to the Republicans by trying to out Republican the Republicans. The rabid Kerry supporters of 2004 pretty much have gone to Obama as a bloc. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Donuel Date: 08 Apr 08 - 01:21 PM We had an Obama canvasser here at the house. He was very nice. The Clinton canvasser was at the grocery store and was pushy and obstanent. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Apr 08 - 12:57 PM Have you ever seen better presidential material than the guy on the right? I know I haven't. It's time to put a REAL chimp in the White House! |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 07 Apr 08 - 01:47 PM Try tarring the neighbourhood instead. It sticks a lot longer. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Apr 08 - 08:40 PM We had volunteered to bring food for the volunteers who are here from out of town. So we brought them Brunswick Stew and fresh baked soda bread. We also spent $54.00 on yard signs and buttons. Next mission, fried fish. Then canvassing the neighborhood. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Mar 08 - 06:54 PM Yeah, it did work for Bush, didn't it? ;-) And he's been in for eight years (well, almost)! I predict an administration that will last if Chongo is elected, and one that will leave an indelible mark on the history of both its nation AND the world. I predict that bananas will double in value by 2012. Put your money in banana futures NOW....and put a REAL chimp in the White House for a change! |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 28 Mar 08 - 02:38 PM >>>He is so extreme in his personal characteristics already that no caricature of him can seem any odder than the real thing. <<< It worked for George W Bush. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Mar 08 - 02:34 PM That's the great thing about Chongo. He is so extreme in his personal characteristics already that no caricature of him can seem any odder than the real thing. This makes him bulletproof, in the satirical sense. This is an advantage no other candidate can boast. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: wysiwyg Date: 28 Mar 08 - 01:20 PM Yeah, that's me-- shallow simpltoness. ;~) But a lot of folks have not made up their minds yet while the Dems struggle to get their collective sh*t together, and some people WILL be shallow enough to be affected by the humorous portayals as much as (or more than) a mindful look at issues, etc. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 28 Mar 08 - 12:53 PM I actually find the Bush Impersonators to be better leaders. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Ebbie Date: 28 Mar 08 - 12:11 PM I would guess - and hope - that Susan has her TIC. I can't imagine anyone being turned off the real thing by an impersonator. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: wysiwyg Date: 28 Mar 08 - 10:54 AM I'm just waiting for Leno to trot out the McCain clone to spoil him for millions of voters. :~) ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Ebbie Date: 28 Mar 08 - 02:57 AM Susan, I too watched the Obama look-alike on the Tonight Show. He was very good. He is a professional and often performs with the Hillary Clinton lookalike. Like any good impersonator he emphasized certain physical quirks and speech patterns. I was taken aback for a moment but after that I had to laugh, as I imagine Obama himself would. The next time I watched Obama speak I was glad to see that he is a lot more toned down than the lookalike was! |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: katlaughing Date: 28 Mar 08 - 12:50 AM We are having a peace rally here on Sunday. I plan to go. The college students put up 400 personalised crosses to represent the 4,000 killed in Iraq. At Sunday's rally, I think they are going to have a full 4,000 crosses. I am sure there will some Obama people there and I plan to watch for them. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Jack the Sailor Date: 27 Mar 08 - 11:27 PM Did you just say that Leno's look-a-like spoiled Obama for you? Surely your heart was not in it from the start. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: wysiwyg Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:38 PM Leno's lookalike is so good in his rendition that he's reduced Obama to a caricature (and he doesn't even LOOK like Obama). Spoiled the man for me, permanently. Best of luck, though. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Jack the Sailor Date: 27 Mar 08 - 08:50 PM Its pretty exciting actually. Hundreds of people are mobilizing, on their own without the usual political party people. |

Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Jack the Sailor Date: 27 Mar 08 - 08:47 PM There were a lot of older hippies at the meeting. Some of them look like they might be Chongo's "people". ;-) |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Mar 08 - 08:41 PM Aha. Well, good for you. Look, if you run into any of Chongo's "people" out canvassing the same area, be nice, okay? No point burning bridges that may come in handy later. |

Subject: BS: Putting time and money where my mouth is From: Jack the Sailor Date: 27 Mar 08 - 08:33 PM I just came back from an Obama organizational meeting today. I was pleasantly surprised to see and overflow crowd of more than a hundred volunteers. I'll soon be registering voters and canvassing my neighborhood. |
