I had £1 e/w on Snowy Morning (and Simon) (plus 50p e/w on Cornish Sett, Fundamentalist and McKelvey). All but Snowy bowed out along the way.

Oh well. Thems the breaks. I may still win the Lottery ...

I don't understand what you mean 'at the bookmakers', GS. It was at the 'Tote'.

Unfortunately..all your tote bet...if you did it at the Bookmakers...goes to the bookmaker. The totalisator payout is dependent on how many people actually back a particular horse...AT THE TRACK......the bookies however allow people to bet using the tote asa their payout guide, not knowing whether they will better profit from doing so or better profit from ordinary betting.....the bookie always wins as someone said.

As I understand it, Dave, your loss has gone partly to more successful punters, and partly to the exchequer. The tote is currently publicly owned (as when founded by Winston Churchill in the 20s) but is up for grabs right now if you have the capital wanna be on the winning side?

I backed 3 horses each way

Black Apalachi fell at one of the early fences

Simon fell at the 26th fence (I think)

Snowy Morning 18/1 who came third.

I put £2 each way, so I will get all my money back.

Not bad for somebody who only bets on the Grand National.

Had my annual tenner - £2 each for me and each member of the family. Only Mrs P picked a winner - £1 EW on Kings Johns Castle, so, assuming 20-1 at 1/4 odds we should get £5 back plus the £1 stake - only £4 down this year:-)

I always use the Tote on the basis that even if I loose it doesn't line a bookies pocket but something struck me earlier - Where has my £4 gone? Anyone know?

Cheers

Dave
