Subject: RE: How many faces has an Anglo Concertina? From: Alan Day Date: 18 Apr 08 - 06:05 PM Sadly there was not enough room to include all the faces, including yours Anahata,Brian Peters and many more that I have discovered since it was released, but it is a very good representation of Anglo playing as it is now and with some archives from Scan Tester,Fred Kilroy a bit of how it was then. English International may provide many faces of that instrument and will cover more of the historical side and it's musical development than Anglo did .Once again like Anglo a 3CD collection. The current update is that the CDs are now mastered, the booklet and information for it has taken longer than expected, Sorry for the delay. Going back to Jody he has developed a style of playing that reproduces the American Fiddle style and in general plays this on the left side whilst playing the tune on the right. He is featured on Anglo Int. playing with his Contra Dance Band. Finally Anahata I have at last stopped singing Brambel -Eye- Bush an excellent download from your site and has tempted me to visit you next time you are in my area. Al |

Subject: RE: How many faces has an Anglo Concertina? From: treewind Date: 18 Apr 08 - 03:22 PM The answer to the title question is surely here: Anglo International Jody's on that album, with many others. He's a lovely player who I had the pleasure of meeting at Sidmouth Festival last year. Anahata |

Subject: How many faces has an Anglo Concertina? From: GUEST Date: 18 Apr 08 - 02:48 PM Sorry about the pun guys, but yes of course I'm talking about musical faces here. So here's an interesting CD that I just added to my collection, which I thought fans of the Anglo Concertina here, might like to check out, if they haven't already. It features the Anglo Concertina playing of Jody Krustal, playing some great Old Time Music! "Acoustic old-time tunes and songs with Jody Kruskal and friends, featuring Anglo concertina with fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass playing old-time classics, unusual tunes and originals. The roots of old-time American country music reach back to the early days of the concertina, and the Anglo's rhythm and inflection fit that music perfectly. The antique voice of the Anglo playing this vibrant old-time musical tradition still sounds fresh and new." 'Poor Little Liza Jane' by Jody Kruskal: < http://cdbaby.com/cd/jodykruskal2 > Isn't it amazing how this little box fits so neatly into so many different genres! Mind you I suspect there are those out there amongst you, who would prefer many of their most popular instruments to remain genre specific, while others probably welcome experiment & change as a healthy way of keeping music alive. So in which camp do you reside? :-) Oh & by the way, how do you like Jody's Concertina take on Old Time Music? Does it work for you? Cheers Dick |
