Subject: RE: BS: What about The Secondaries? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 25 Apr 08 - 10:38 PM I realised that the US election system was always intended to be a distracting Circus. Suggestions: Limit the whole primaries to 3 months max, then one month for the actual election. Preferential instead fo first past the post voting. Abolish both 'houses' and just let King George Rule Again! |

Subject: RE: BS: What about The Secondaries? From: GUEST,Mr Red Date: 25 Apr 08 - 09:54 AM Doesn't Italy have some kind of single transferable vote. "21 Presidents in 22 years or is 25 in 23? Whatever, one a year. Those little guys in the corner sure pack a punch. |

Subject: RE: BS: What about The Secondaries? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 25 Apr 08 - 04:11 AM I always wanted a voting system based on "I DON'T WANT THAT BASTARD IN POWER...", where you vote to keep out the worst of the candidates (and preferably shoot the ones nobody likes). That way you might end up with somebody who actually tries to do what the majority of the people would be happy with. Oh well! We can all dream... Quack! GtD. |

Subject: RE: BS: What about The Secondaries? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 25 Apr 08 - 01:32 AM Well, that's the problem with 'first past the post' voting, and why Oz developed 'optional preference' voting. You can't totally ignore the little bunches of nutters over in the far left AND right corners... |

Yeah, Foolestroupe, that's pretty much the way it is. It can be very discouraging to those of us who sometimes come in third. |
