Subject: RE: BS: Cell Phones In Ireland From: Dave the Gnome Date: 02 May 08 - 06:44 PM Buy a multi-band phone. Used to be tri-band. Now quad-band is the thing. Don't think they sell such things in the US of A coz they don't expect anyone to go abroad! Next best thing - Go to the local cheap dept. store (Do they have Woolworths in Eire?) when you get there. Spend about 20 euros on a pay as you go phone with a sim and put about 5 euros on it. Final one. Buy one off a bloke in a bar. Doesn't matter who he mugged...:-( Cheers D. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cell Phones In Ireland From: open mike Date: 02 May 08 - 05:13 PM what service do you use? When i went to canada a while back my ATT phone was able to connect thru a company in canada..Robinson or Roberts? some phones have chips that allow international usage. You want to find a GSM phone or provider. with a SIM card which matches your phone. Here is AT&T site: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/index.jsp?WT.srch=1 and a CNET review: http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/at-38-t-formerly/4505-6454_7-32137726.html I do not know about this business, but here is some info: http://www.cellularabroad.com/ good luck and let us know what you find out! |
