Subject: RE: Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken Vol II From: Midchuck Date: 02 Mar 11 - 09:31 AM What stuck with me from that album was Emmylou's Mary Danced with Soldiers; and The Turn of the Century (the latter because the writers got it so wrong). Peter. |
Subject: Lyr Add: And So It Goes (Paul Overstreet) From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 02 Mar 11 - 09:25 AM Here is what I remember of this old song. And So It Goes (Paul Overstreet; Don Schlitz) A mansion on a hill is a lovely sight to see But like any other house it's only temporary Home is anywhere you choose to put your heart If there's no love inside it will soon fall apart Ashes to ashes, dust into dust Buildings will crumble, bridges will rust Mountains will disappear, rivers will dry on And so it goes, with everything but love So it goes, with everything but love, so it goes You can drive around in a long limousine If you don't know where you're going, it don't mean a thing He would walk a mile just to hold an empty hand He knows what it means to be a wealthy man Ashes to ashes, dust into dust Colossi will crumble, bridges will rust Mountains will disappear, rivers will dry on And so it goes, with everything but love So it goes, with everything but love, so it goes Wordly treasures will all pass away There's just one thing that is put here to stay Ashes to ashes, dust into dust Kingdoms will crumble, bridges will rust Mountains will disappear, rivers will dry on And so it goes, with everything but love So it goes, with everything but love So it goes, with everything but love So it goes, with everything, but love |
Subject: RE: Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken Vol II From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Mar 11 - 12:34 AM You'll find a listing of tracks, with lyrics, here (click): Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Vol. II MCA Records 1989 CMA and Grammy Award Winner Certified Gold Album One of the best cherished of the late '60s/early '70s country rock albums was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 1972 triple, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, which brought together a number of country and bluegrass luminaries and helped sweep aside country music's sticks-and-hickster image for a rockier audience. 17 years later came Vol. II, with a far greater panoply of stars - too many to mention in fact, but Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Levon Helm, John Hiatt and Rosanne Cash (rocking together on "One Step Over The Line"), John Prine, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs, Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman (on Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere"), and Bruce Hornsby (with a bluegrass version of "The Valley Road") will do for starters. Unsurprisingly, there's some fine picking and singing here, plenty of musical affection and lots of pally fun, and all of it recorded live-to-tape, the performers sitting around in an unbroken circle in the studio and simply, well, going out there and enjoying themselves. "I think we brought the living room back to music," comments Emmylou Harris at the end of side one. I think she's right. John Bauldie © Emap Consumer Magazines Limited. Track Listing:

Subject: RE: LYR REQ - Nitty Gritty WTCBU vol II From: Rose Date: 05 Jun 99 - 08:39 PM Thanks Roger. The Dylan was a direct hit - the other song I have had a heck of a time finding the words. Apparently this is the only time Denver recorded it. Guess I will just listen to the song over and over and take notes (-: PS. Liked the Billy Joel song though! |
Subject: RE: LYR REQ - Nitty Gritty WTCBU vol II From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 05 Jun 99 - 07:48 AM There is a song entitled AND SO IT GOES in the DT. But it is credited to that noted folk-singer Billy Joel. Probably not the song you seek. Roger in Baltimore |

Subject: RE: LYR REQ - Nitty Gritty WTCBU vol II From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 05 Jun 99 - 07:43 AM RNRROSE, Is that Rock and Roll Rose? The second song you requested is in the DigiTrad Database. You could find it by going to the upper-right-hand corner of this page and typing in [gun that shoots] and clicking on the search button. The brackets tell the search engine to search for that exact phrase. It was a part of the song where I was sure of the words and their spelling. Enjoy the song! Roger in Baltimore |
