Subject: RE: BS: Sad End of a Tall Ship - Asgard II From: Charley Noble Date: 17 Sep 08 - 01:21 PM What caused this brigantine (not a "ship or boat") to sink certainly is unclear from what I've been able to read in this thread and from the links provided. I suppose it will take some time to sort everything out. It certainly is a shame to lose such a beautiful brigantine but at least there were no lives lost. Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: Sad End of a Tall Ship - Asgard II From: Schantieman Date: 16 Sep 08 - 01:51 PM Looks like it's fairly close inshore so it might not be too deep. The continental shelf, I think, is pretty narrow in Biscay though (which is what makes it rough. Well, that and being a lee shore to 3000M of ocean). Jolly expensive and difficult business though, salvaging ships, notwithstanding the Mary Ellen Carter. Steve |

Subject: RE: BS: Sad End of a Tall Ship - Asgard II From: open mike Date: 16 Sep 08 - 01:41 PM perhaps they can bring it back to the surface like the VASA ship, however that one sank in a much more shallow harbor...too bad.. |
