Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Darowyn Date: 08 Oct 08 - 12:36 PM Mr Red- most hiking shops have red thick socks, often with double layer feet. Blacks, Army & Navy, - that sort of place. I'm aware of your colour preference- I've met you several times in clubs many miles apart. Cheers Dave |
Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 08 Oct 08 - 12:11 PM Hey, Peace, three days ago I offered to take those socks off your hands to go with my UCLA T-shirt of similar color. So far they haven't shown up. Please expedite...the shirt is lonely. JotSC |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 08 Oct 08 - 08:41 AM Could you not have another colour pair inside and the red pair outside Mr Red? It would halve the number required... Or buy a whole heap of white ones, wash them on hot with the rest of your clothes and see what happens? After all, pink is really only a pale red... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Mr Red Date: 08 Oct 08 - 08:17 AM Baby Blue - is that a political statement? I favour a different hue but I am having difficulty finding double layer socks in red (anti-blister) so I have to wear two thin pairs - any ideas where I can purchase some, Folks? in the UK. |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Jeri Date: 07 Oct 08 - 01:09 PM Your friend really likes you. Sky blue is the color of the sky, and it symbolizes freedom and forever. It's like a big smiley-face for your feet, only less yellow and more blue. Actually, no yellow at all because then the socks would be green because blue and yellow make green, and that would be a good color if it were happy spring green or a quiet, cool forest green and not what-the-hell-did-he-eat cat-barf green, which you don't want on your feet because it would look like you stepped in cat barf (only it would have to be a really big cat to get it on the tops of your feet and up your legs, like maybe a giant radioactive space cat or something). Your friend should give you some pink socks. Nothing that comes out of a cat is pink. At least not unless the cat has a very bad accident. Good thing your friend didn't send brown socks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Peace Date: 06 Oct 08 - 09:42 PM I see LOTS of jealousy on this thread. I know that many of you, in your heart of hearts, REALLY REALLY WANT baby-blue socks. Darowyn, in ages past YOU would have led the search for a new world, ridden a rocket to locate Captain Kirk. I salute your valour in the face of public ridicule. I shall wear my new sock with pride. What colours actually GO with baby-blue? BWL's reference to pastel: are they flowers? I must needs know. |
Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 06 Oct 08 - 09:37 PM I remember wearing pastel socks in the '60s. Whatever color your shirt was, that was your sock color. Baby blue, yellow, mint green, pink. I had a drawerful of 'em. Now I only have black socks and white socks. I'd wear baby blue ones if someone gave me a pair, but only with boots and jeans so nobody'd see 'em. |
Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: JennieG Date: 06 Oct 08 - 08:51 PM In Oz we have some beautiful male birds with blue plumage - here's one: Superb blue wren. Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Darowyn Date: 06 Oct 08 - 03:25 AM Light blue would indicate the other Manchester team! To broaden the topic, I wonder why the majority of men wear such dull colours. When I look for a style icon, a man that I regard as a snappy dresser, is Henry the Eighth. I wear red, I'm in emerald green today, royal blue is good. I choose clothes to be seen- yet they are so hard to find. I'm talking about outer garments here- shirts, jackets. Coloured underwear is even harder to find. You go into as clothes shop, the womenswear is green, blue, red, fuschia- lots of colour. Step across to menswear- you're into the black and white film era. Black, camouflage brown, grey, beige. If anybody asks me the reason for wearing bright colours I will ask, "What colour is a mouse?" -"Sort of greyish brown" "What colour is a tiger?" -"Orange and black" "Which one are you dressed as?" In the natural world, most animal species show that the male is the more showy. Wear your blue socks with pride- let them take your feet along the road to your natural pride of place as a colourful male. Remember, you are a tiger, not a mouse. You don't need to hide. Cheers Dave P.S. I put down my success at interviews partly to the fact that I have attended in a red jacket. They remember you! D |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Peace Date: 05 Oct 08 - 09:34 PM I am appreciative of all the excellent advice that people have given me. I should add that these are no ordinary socks. They are 100% cotton except for the 12% Spandex--but the cotton that IS there is 100%. They say right on the package that they will keep one's feet odor-free for a day. That's right, 24 hours. SO, no Axe will be necessary. In fact, these socks are as expensive as my sandals that cost $8.00. So, I don't want to be doing anything that would be considered gauche. Any and all suggestions are very much welcomed. Thank you. At the end of this thread I will tell y'all who sent the socks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Bee Date: 05 Oct 08 - 10:46 AM Lots of good advice here, Peace. I'll add that if one has gift-giving friends who are also colour blind, one should gently suggest to them that you only accept gifts purchased at the local hardware store. This will greatly reduce the chances of your ending up in purple plaid trousers. Alwways keep in mind, of course, that any form of dress is acceptable, so long as it doesn't frighten the horses. |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Anne Lister Date: 05 Oct 08 - 06:33 AM I don't think any colour socks look OK with sandals, unless you're also wearing brightly coloured Bermudas, a shirt buttoned up to the kneck and a handkerchief knotted around your head. Which suggests post-modern irony. But they'll be fine with a blue suit, a black suit, a pin-stripe suit, a linen suit ... in fact, I'm sure with your entire wardrobe. Me, I try to never judge anyone by their socks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Baby-blue socks: A fashion statement? From: Darowyn Date: 05 Oct 08 - 04:52 AM To anyone who mentions the colour, you should explain, very earnestly and at far too great a length, that you wear them to increase your psychic sensibility, since the blue stimulates the base chakras, improving your empathy with your fellow human beings. Then tell them to push off, you'll wear what you like and it's no concern of anyone else. Threats of violence could be added for dramatic effect, if the situation is suitable (the person is smaller than you, for example). Cheers, Dave, habitual wearer of red socks. |
