Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: bobad Date: 05 Oct 08 - 07:12 PM I had a relative pass away a couple years back from a burst blood vessel and having been a nurse she recognized what was happening, her final words, according to her daughter, were "Oh shit!" |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Mrrzy Date: 05 Oct 08 - 07:02 PM I like the guy who wanted to hear, when he was in his coffin, not "He was a great family man" nor "what a wonderful person" but something like Hey, I think he's moving! |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Oct 08 - 06:07 PM That would depend mainly on who was there to hear it. And I might say nothing at all. At any rate, there is no way I can precalculate something like that. It only becomes real in the moment of living it. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Donuel Date: 05 Oct 08 - 02:54 PM It is considered a tragedy when a person's dieing words are "if only... I could have..." if you think that is funny, int's not, it is exactly the same state my country is in. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Bee Date: 05 Oct 08 - 02:15 PM In all seriousness, to my husband: go find a good woman and be happy the rest of your life. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Rapparee Date: 05 Oct 08 - 01:20 PM I've also been partial to Voltaire's last words, said when his nurse lit a candle: "The flames already?" Or perhaps, "I just don't see how they can make a profit on this stuff at three dollars a gallon." But most likely, "Now, Pat, put the gun down." |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: alanabit Date: 05 Oct 08 - 01:20 PM We will walk together. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: gnu Date: 05 Oct 08 - 01:07 PM I recorded me on video a while back singing "The Parting Glass" and added a twist for the final verse.... I have lived the lives of many men; And shared each of these with my true friends. For those of you who knew me then, I hope, some day, we meet again. But since it falls, unto.... Youse know the rest. Then it fades slowly to black. Then 8 seconds of silence. Then, I come on again suddenly and say, loudly, "Oh yeah!" Then a slight pause, and I say, "I gave every last nickel to the IWK Children's Hospital so I hope you had lunch before you got here. Drink lots of cold water and walk slow, eh." Big smile and a simple, single wave. Freeze frame for 8 seconds. Then black. Then Garryowen on the pipes. Classy, eh? |

Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: sian, west wales Date: 05 Oct 08 - 12:16 PM Well, there are some who say he didn't say it, but according to the song about Brave Wolfe, he comes up with something I'd find quite acceptable: "I die contented." Although, I wouldn't mind being in a situation where I could say, "Kiss me again, George (Clooney)." Option one is the more likely, I suppose. sian |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 05 Oct 08 - 11:56 AM "Go on, get out - last words are for fools who haven't said enough." ... Karl Marx biLL |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: katlaughing Date: 05 Oct 08 - 11:41 AM Well, I guess most folks would expect it to be: "This, or something better, for the highest good of all concerned!" "Mitakuye oyasin" (We are all related.) But, it would probably be "Remember, I love you." |
Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: Ebbie Date: 05 Oct 08 - 11:19 AM I have already said, If my body is found with what appears to be a grimace on its face, rest assured it is a smile. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Last Word From: GUEST,Volgadon Date: 05 Oct 08 - 10:47 AM I know you've said this is not a joke thread, but I thought I'd share one anyway, it's thought-provoking in the context of this thread. A bit of humour always helps the thinking process. Rabinowicz is on his death bed. His sight is dimming, but he looks around and sees several familiar faces. -Haim, my eldest, are you here? -Yes, father. -Moteleh, my second born, are you here? -Yes, father. -Mendl, my only brother, are you here? -Yes, brother. -Sarah, my wife of many years, are you here? -Hanaleh, Tzila and Zelda, my daughters, are you here? -Yes, father. -THEN WHO IS MINDING THE SHOP? As for me, I really don't know what I would say. It depends on where my life has taken me and more improtantly on who my kids are. |
Subject: BS: The Last Word From: wysiwyg Date: 05 Oct 08 - 10:19 AM Hey. Listen up, this is serious. Not a joke thread. (Mods, make it so.) If you departed this life, what is the one thing you'd want to say? You know, to leave behind as your last gift? (Yeah, I know, it might be a song, LOL.) Cuz we're losig a lot of us, here at Mudcat and around our lives, these days, aren't we? Sure, our posts can be searched up, but what do you REALLY want to SAY? For instance, when I felt close to death several few years ago, I told mine to a good friend. My image for it was what she'd say at my funeral, but really it was meant to go farther than that. But I dunno if she still feels close enough to step up and deliver that message for me anymore.... and I never said it here, and I don't think she'd know to come here to pass it along anyway.... So here it is: REMEMBER WHAT I TOLD YOU. That's it. I've told a lot of you, as individuals privately and in my posts, things that might have been hard to hear at the time. (I think ususally it boiled down to how strong and powerful I knew "you" were in some way particular to your "usual" situation.) Your turn! Make me proud! ~Susan |
