Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Bill D Date: 20 Nov 08 - 04:33 PM yeah, but you'll post one more time to brag about it, and it won't count any more. |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 20 Nov 08 - 04:24 PM I'm at 6556. In 110 more posts I'll be at 6666. I plan on turning into the Mega Soopah-Doopah Anti-Christ at that time. |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: PoppaGator Date: 20 Nov 08 - 02:20 PM I'm at a mere 4,951. Well, this makes 4,952. And it's taken me years to get even this far! Maybe I should plan a celebration for # 5,000. Or not. Ho hum. |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Bill D Date: 20 Nov 08 - 11:17 AM I have posted almost 24,000 times, and I find I have only started about 6 threads in the last 2400 posts. I'd guess that that ratio is about my usual, so way less than 100 started in over 12 years. (mostly on tech stuff or where to find archives of music...etc.) Sometimes I think..."hey, I'll post that on Mudcat!" But then I think..."nahhh, that's too silly." Then I read the 27 even sillier ones someone else has started that day.... Obviously, I am not needed to keep the 'silly' ball rolling. |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Nov 08 - 11:02 AM You guys are lightweights compared to some members. Look up Amos, Spaw, Little Hawk, etc. Oh, my. I'm up to 18,603 (with this post). SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: JohnInKansas Date: 20 Nov 08 - 06:55 AM The mudcat record shows me at 8,890 posts; but that's only to 3,659 threads. (I guess maybe I've been repeating myself if I'm averaging 2.42 posts per thread.) I don't know of a simple way to sort out how many threads a person has started. I doubt that my numbers would be competitive there, since I'm more inclined to replies than to starting threads; but it might be a bit scary to find out. A fair percentage of my posts take more like a half-hour per, so I guess I've wasted about two man-years on them. (2088 mh/yr is a nominal average in most business estimating, for 40 hr/week. I've never heard of a different standard for ol' fart years.) That doesn't, of course, count the ones that took so long to write up that someone else beat me back and they never got posted, or the ones where I didn't find a good answer and just gave up. John |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Beer Date: 19 Nov 08 - 09:42 PM Well you got me to check Cool Beans and I can go back to September 1st 2001 where by I asked help in finding lyrics to a song called "Calling You". I was welcomed on board by a number of members and I am now up to 2948 post. If I read this correctly, post's also include threads started. Yes?..How many threads have I or you started is not separated from post. Am I correct on this? If I wanted to see how many threads I have(or you have) started can it be found? Beer (adrien) |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 19 Nov 08 - 09:18 PM Look at it this way, Cool Beans, the amount of time you've spent posting since 2000 is roughly equal to the time most of us spend sitting on the shitter in one year. And you can post to the Mudcat without having to wipe your ass! |

Subject: RE: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Bill D Date: 19 Nov 08 - 05:41 PM "Imagine all the other things I could have done. " People used to write letters....longhand... to relatives. It took them MUCH longer to get responses and it was a lot harder to say what you wanted to say. I'll take this form of time-wasting....it has brought me a lot of pleasure and friends. |

Subject: BS: This makes 1000 postings for me From: Cool Beans Date: 19 Nov 08 - 04:20 PM Officially, anyway. All my postings from 2002 have vanished, so they aren't included in the Mudcat automatic tally. Nevertheless, that's a lot of time wasted since September, 2000. Figure on at least two mintes per posting, it works out to 33.3 hours, or nearly a whole week of work, assuming a 35-hour work week. Imagine all the other things I could have done. |
