To revive this old thread, I have to tell you that Dan has released what must be one of the best albums of 2010. It's a monster 32 tracks available as triple vinyl or double CD from the ever-eclectic Timbreland Records of rainy old Manchester. Dan's really managed to capture his live sound and the music references folk, americana, psychedelia and singer songwriter stuff - all popped in a blender and coming out as wonderfully idiosyncratic sound stew. And he still sings in a black country accent... and he still sounds, in a good way, a little like a young John Otway. I'd urge you all to check out his Myspace page (link in post above) and listen for yourselves.

For those of you near Manchester, he plays live at the Sacred Trinity in Salford on the 16th ... not to be missed!

Went to see Dan Haywood at Dulcimer in Manchester last night. As ever, he was atonishing. Tonight's line up was two acoustic guitars, two fiddles (including some cracking sawing folk fiddle) and percussion/lap guitar.

Dan is like the missing link between the Incredible String Band, psychedelic-era Donovan, early John Otway, Syd Barrett and 'Blood on the Tracks' era Dylan, all sung in a warm and woozy Black Country accent. A regional treasure and a fine and idiosyncratic songwriter.
